On July 27, 2019, the Shawano County Historical Society presented a Vintage afternoon. The day illustrated the artistry of twenty-five storied wedding gowns donated by local women and families. The beautifully warm day started with event-goers congregating in our restored Old Tabor Church.
The afternoon began with co-event organizer, Merrie Crawford, welcoming everyone to A Vintage Afternoon. Our M.C., MaryBeth (Herzfeldt) Leopold, and Curator, Jesse Borlen, introduced each bridal dress and told the histories of the women who wore them. Some of the bridal dresses were worn by women in attendance.
After the “fashion show” was over, event attendees were invited to a social reception. The reception was beautifully decorated with vintage china, photos of women wearing their dresses on their wedding day, and a special “one day only” exhibit curated by our curator. Guests were treated to some finger food, wedding cake, tea (generously donated by The Stock Market,) and champagne.
We would like to thank all of our wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event special for so many people. Without their generosity, we could not have made this afternoon one for the history books!
