Hillside Cheese Factory
Township of Hartland

Shown above is a 1924 photo of the Hillside Cheese Factory in the township of Hartland.

The proprietor was Clarence Reisner. The factory was built in 1916 by Richard and William Mitchell. Three years later, William Mitchell sold it to Harry Yuenger, who in-turn, sold it to Ervin Yuenger. In 1921, Yuenger sold it to Richard and Hermine Mildenhauer and they in turn, only kept it one year before selling it to Clarence Reisner in 1922. By 1936 Walter Klosterman purchased this factory from Julius Malueg. The Klostermans operated the factory for 36 years and sold this property to Theodore Giese in 1970.

Also shown is the original cheese maker’s license made out to Clarence Reisner dated September 17, 1923. It was issued by the State of Wisconsin Office of Dairy and Food Commissioner, Madison. The location of this factory was ~4 ½ miles SE of Bonduel.
