The photo from 1897 shows the C. A. Raisler Store at 114 S. Main Street in Shawano. In the door way is attorney E. V. Werner. Second floor businesses included Agency Liverpool London, Globe Insurance, and Dickenson & Williams. The Raisler Store was a two story brick building erected in 1882.
Charles A. Raisler was born in Prussia in 1848 and came the the USA and Waupaca County in 1857. In 1868 he came to Shawano and engaged in the trade of a cabinet making business which he operated until 1874. He then operated a mercantile business for three years. In addition to his business dealings, he was an elected official and original stock holder in the Citizens State Bank.”
